ANNOUNCING "YES!" A NEW ALBUM WITH JASON MRAZ!
DUE OUT JULY 15 -- AVAILABLE FOR PRE-SALE NOW!
May 19, 2014

Seven years ago we met and began writing songs with Jason Mraz. We would get together once or twice a year for a "Ladies Weekend" which would mean brushing each others' hair, talking about our feelings and oh yea - writing songs. Lots of songs. Within the last couple of years, we started to feel more momentum with our musical musings. The years of bonding and growing - both as a fivesome and as individuals - added up to a new level of synergy. The songs were stronger. They started to feel like an album. So last summer, into the studio we went. The song list expanded and contracted. Friends and fellow badasses contributed their genius. We meticulously played with the playlist and thought deeply about the album artwork and title. In the end (a new beginning) we ended up with a beautiful record that we are so proud of, so honored to have been invited to co-create, and SO EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU. YES!

'Yes!' is the new album by Jason Mraz, collaboratively created with Raining Jane. 'Yes!' comes out July 15th but you can pre-order it now. If you pre-order on iTunes, you will get a download of a new track every Monday. Also every Monday, visit jasonmraz.com. to see a video of a new song from the album, recorded live at Jason's avocado ranch. There are also pre-order packages available featuring extra special items.

RAINING JANE GETS BEHIND "ROCK N' ROLL CAMP FOR GIRLS LOS ANGELES"
July 26-31 2010

In 2005 Mona and Becky discovered an amazing place on earth: "Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls." Based in Portland, Oregon, this summer camp was a unique place for girls to come together in a supportive, creative environment --to Rock their Booties off. Mona and Becky went that year as volunteers, teaching drums, bass and coach young bands. It was also the same year the camp became the focus of the ground-breaking documentary "Girls Rock! The Movie" based on revolutionary life at Rock Camp.

The inspirational week urged them to get the rest of Raining Jane back the following year. Mai came and taught guitar, Chaska taught vocals (alongside Beth Ditto of the "The Gossip") and all 4 Janes helped coach new bands. Several years later, after having volunteered and led workshops in affiliated camps in Portland and Seattle, Raining Jane decided it was time such an amazing thing came to Los Angeles.

In the fall of 2009 Becky and Mona spearheaded a campaign to get the wheels in motion. Now a non-profit run and fueled by a thriving community of passionate volunteers, ROCK N' ROLL CAMP FOR GIRLS LOS ANGELES is anticipating a fabulous launch in July 2010. From July 26-31, girls ages 8-17 will come together in Downtown LA to study music, form bands, write songs and take inspirational workshops. At the end of the week, on July 31, the bands will perform their songs live at a showcase for the public at The Troubadour in Hollywood.

It's an incredible mission to be a part of, and Raining Jane is thrilled and honored to be at the helm of such an exciting effort. They've also established the RAINING JANE "SEE JANE ROCK" SCHOLARSHIP which will cover the tuition of a camper for a full session. There are many opportunities for contribution and collaboration throughout the community. Please visit the link below to learn more or become part of the movement. ROCK ON.

REVIEW: RAINING JANE AT THE HOTEL CAFE
February 2, 2009:

Equipped with harmonious melodies and thought-provoking lyric, Raining Jane is an LA-based band that carefully crafts how the beauty of life is more than just skin deep. Being an all-female ensemble, "Jane" gives the listener intimate glimpses into the folk-rock genre that many other artists in the category fail to do: Mai Bloomfield and Chaska Potter deliver an often perspicuous and layered tone to their voices that listeners can actually feel a sense of honesty and openness in what they say. It's an opposition to many other folk-rock artists who often muffle their voices in order to emote a sense of passiveness.

What Raining Jane seem to develop in their EP "Paper Nest" is a sense of individuality not just amongst the band's genre but also for their own personal beliefs and understandings. This juxtaposition is featured in the uplifting song entitled "Incline"; the lyrics are an example of how this band goes against the grain of folk-rock's "woe is me" attitude and promotes giving relationships and life in general a second chance. Raining Jane perform tonight, February 2, at the Hotel Cafe.

FIRE RELIEF CD: A Benefit for the Victims of the 2007 San Diego Fires
Fall 2007

In the fall of 2007, devastating fires struck the Southern California region. Particularly hard hit was San Diego County - where more than 500,000 people were forced to evacuate and approximately 1500 homes were lost. To show support for the community, and continue to help San Diego County recover, NBC 7/39 San Diego and Sounden Recordings came together to release a San Diego Fire Relief CD. Proceeds go to The San Diego Foundation’s After-The-Fires Fund 2007 and The Fireman’s Fund. Raining Jane is grateful to be a part of this effort, as they are featured on one of the tracks "Silent Love Song" by local San Diego artist Jason Mraz.

ROCK FEST (A BENEFIT FOR "GIRLS ROCK!" THE MOVIE)

March 26, 2006
Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco

"Rock Fest" was a very special event benefitting the nearly-finished documentary film, "Girls Rock!" The film follows the stories of four girls who attended Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls, which Mona and Becky volunteered at over the summer of 2005. These four girls enter a world of empowerment and chaotic freedom, and reinvent themselves with humor, fragility, and ultimately, triumph.

Girls Rock Fest was an all-day event featuring a fantastic lineup of female rockers both young, and young at heart (Raining Jane, The Bellyachers, Peachphuzz, Blubird, Judea Eden, Lou Lou and the Guitarfish, Trashtronix, Tinkture.) Penny Arcade co-presented, in association with the SF Gaurdian.

BILLBOARD PRAISES RAINING JANE PERFORMANCE

On August 13, 2005, Raining Jane performed at the NARM conference in San Diego. The National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) is a not-for-profit trade association that serves the music retailing community. From the August 27, 2005 issue of Billboard Magazine:

"The convention featured 45 performances in total, making it one of the most musically oriented NARM meets in years. Three nights of Club NARM featured great performances by World Leader Pretend, Antigone Rising, Rachel Sage, Raul MidÌ?n, Liz Phair and Charlie Sexton, among others. The convention kicked off with sets by Columbia's Delta Goodrem and Welk Music's Nickel Creek, while La 5a EstaciÌ?n and Reik were featured performers during Sony BMG Norte's product presentation, and Blindside was showcased during the Navarre session. In addition, the trade show featured three or four bands each day. Retail Track was lucky enough to catch a sterling performance by Raining Jane."

RAINING JANE SUPPORTS Rock & Roll Camp For Girls

This summer, Becky and Mona spent a week volunteering at Rock & Roll Camp For Girls in Portland, Oregon. As the rhythm section of Raining Jane, Becky and Mona have a special bond, which made the drive from L.A. to Portland really... special. Let's just say you might want to start looking forward to a side project album consisting only of drums, bass, sitar and whistling. But really, Mona and Becky share a love for Portland and a love for teaching young ladies how to rock.

Rock & Roll Camp For Girls is a non-profit organization that started five years ago, with the mission of providing young women with a nurturing environment in which to learn music and express themselves. What began as one week in the summer is now a year-round schedule of music education attracting students and instructors from all over the world. Keep an eye out for a story in Life magazine, and a documentary film.

During their week at camp, Mona and Becky gave drum and bass guitar lessons to campers between the ages of 8-18. They also co-managed a band of four 10-year-olds, named "Duh Girls." In addition to instrument instruction, rehearsal, lyric-writing and outfit-coordinating, the campers participated in zine-making, self-defense and live sound workshops. And, each day at lunch a live band performed. About 20 all-girl bands formed at camp, and on the final day each group performed an original song to a ballroom full of beaming family and friends. The week was challenging and rewarding, but most of all deeply inspirational. The future of rock n' roll is looking good- get ready!

In the weeks leading up to camp, RJ approached Fender to see if they would be interested in getting involved with Rock & Roll Camp For Girls. Fender responded with enthusiasm for the cause, and a passion for supporting RJ's belief in the camp. With camp approaching quickly, Fender generously expedited a donation of 18 Squire guitars and basses, three amps, 50 cables, and a big box of wristbands, picks and stickers. Gear was put into use immediately and will be used in educational programs year-round. To learn more about Rock & Roll Camp For Girls, visit www.girlsrockcamp.com.

HOME SWEET HOME

On May 15th, 2005, the ladies of Raining Jane returned home from 4 incredible months touring the country. On January 23rd, 2005, they set out, armed with their new album "Diamond Lane", in a 15-passenger van that would serve as their home, storage, mode of transport and place of refuge for the long haul. With over 50 college and clubs shows booked, their tour schedule led them through the blistering winter of the East Coast back to the beautiful spring of the West. The band performed in a variety of events ranging from Spring Festivals to Night Concerts and Noontime Entertainment, and has already made plans to return to many of the campuses and venues. Highlights from the tour include opening for Vanessa Carlton, Citizen Cope, Reel Big Fish, Maktub, Josh Kelly and Emerson Drive. While the details of the complete adventure would be impossible to summarize, the band can say that they had an incredible time; they grew as musicians and friends, they felt blessed to share their music with so many new people, and though they're thoroughly spent, they can't wait for more. (Well, maybe after a just a little break.) To read more about the road adventures, visit JANE'S JOURNAL.

RAINING JANE AND FENDER JOIN FORCES!

"At Fender we look for talented, passionate players with something fresh, a new voice to offer, a unique interpretation of how our instruments can be used to define a new musical identity...Bands that inspire the repressed musician/poet within us all. Raining Jane does just that with an energetic, eclectic, soulful and approachable musical style. That's why we dig em."
--- Richard McDonald
SR. VP Marketing, Fender Musical Instruments

In January 2005, we attended our first NAMM show. We went with the intention of building relationships and learning about new products. We left with a full endorsement from FENDER! After our meeting with the VP of Marketing, Richard McDonald, we were pleased to find that we share many of the same goals and aspirations. Fender is a forward-thinking company with a passion for music, and a desire to empower female musicians. They are enthusiastic about Raining Jane's independence, versatility and accessibility in the music industry. We are thrilled to be working with Fender! More news to come.

BAND OF THE MONTH

Raining Jane was named January's "Band of the Month" at WestCoastIndie.com. Special thanks to this website for supporting the band, the record release and the tour!

THANKS NACA REGIONALS!

For much of the Fall season, Raining Jane has been busy building a National College Tour Schedule, and developing relationships with colleges and universities across the country. For the past 2 months, we've participated in 3 NACA Regional Conferences: Mid-Atlantic in Baltimore, MD, Northeast in Marlborough, MA, and West in Reno, NV. We came home with great results; we were the SECOND-MOST BOOKED ACT at NACA West, and finished off regionals with OVER 30 BOOKINGS! A Raining Jane National College Tour is quickly taking shape, and will continue to evolve as we make our way to the National NACA conference in February 2005. Visit the TOURING section to see dates currently scheduled, as well as others that will be continually added. (A special thanks to everyone we hung out with at NACA so far -- We can't wait to see you on your campus!)

NEW ALBUM: "DIAMOND LANE"

We finished our new album "Diamond Lane" on October 14, 2004, just two days before flying to Baltimore, Maryland to book our east coast college tour. The album contains 11 tracks - 10 Raining Jane originals plus a rendition of Bob Marley's "Turn Your Lights Down Low." It was recorded at The Village with producers Mark Johnson and Robin Moxey, and mastered at Threshold Mastering by Stephen Marsh.

Because of a time crunch, we ordered a short run of the album and had it shipped to New York, where we were playing our first east coast show. We are currently designing the complete artwork for Diamond Lane. The album will be available online and elsewhere once artwork and replication is finished. Until then, advance copies from the short run will be available at shows.

EAST COAST ADVENTURE

On November 7, we returned from a 23-day trip to the east coast. Our purpose was to attend two NACA conferences. NACA is an organization that facilitates educational and entertainment programming on college campuses across the country. We attend the conferences in order to build college tours. The two conferences were held in Maryland and Massachusetts. At this time we are forming a tour schedule for east coast colleges in late February and March. If you have suggestions or requests of schools, clubs, coffee shops or shows we should play on the east coast, let us know!

In between our two NACA conferences, we played our first east coast show, at Kenny's Castaways in New York City! The show was a blast. A ton of fans showed up, mostly people who used to live in California and have relocated to NY. The owner of Kenny's has already invited us back to play and we can't wait!

When we got to Boston, we played three open mics and crashed Harvard Square, setting up on the sidewalk across from the campus and next to a busy intersection. We sold our new CD and opened the cello case for tips - it was a huge success and we are now considering a career in street performance.

RJ SELECTED TO SHOWCASE

On November 2, we found out that we've been selected for a mainstage showcase at the 2005 National NACA Conference (we cried when we found out). This means we will get to perform in front of 600 colleges who are looking to book talent. We are in a select group of 29 acts chosen to perform on the mainstage and one of only three independent acts hand selected for this highly sought after spot.

2004 SUMMER AND FALL PLANS

Here's a little teaser for your palette, because we know you're wondering. June 25-27 we have a few shows in the Bay Area (see Gigs page). This summer we're recording a new album, to be released in the fall. This fall we're also doing more college shows. We're returning Utah for the third time this year, and revisiting some other locales as well.

2004 SPRING TOUR COMPLETED

We have yet to calculate the final statistics, but our Spring Tour is officially over. We were away from home for about seven weeks, playing mostly colleges and some clubs, in ten states. We played somewhere around 30 shows. The last show was in Santa Barbara on May 30.

RAINING JANE'S NATIONAL COLLEGE TOUR!

Raining Jane is on the road heading to a college town near you! Tell your friends, spread the word ---we'd love to see you there! And... Stay tuned to the website for additions to this schedule and updates from the road, including journal entries, pictures and video clips!

RAINING JANE WINS 3rd PLACE AT ACOUSTIC LIVE!

In November 2003, raining jane was honored to compete in the Acoustic Live Finals. Raining Jane played a rockin show, as they slammed through some of their best tunes (Diamond Lane, Brave Face, Window Song, Fashionable and Deep in My Pocket). The house was packed with a lot of love (thanks to all who came out to support the band!) and Raining Jane was proud to take home 3rd place.
